Founded in 1866, The Yale Peabody Museum (YPM) is among the oldest, largest, and most prolific university natural history museums in the world. Fundamental to the Peabody’s mission is the stewardship of the Museum’s rich collections, which provide a remarkable record of the history of the earth, its life, and its cultures. The collections housed in the Peabody greatly enhance research and teaching at Yale and draw visitors from across the region and around the world.
Reporting directly to the Museum’s Director, the Director of Collections & Research is a member of the senior leadership team, and provides strategic leadership, oversight, and management of the Staff and initiatives related to the Peabody’s collections and their uses in research, teaching (with the Director of Student Programs), and other areas of the Museum, including co-management (with Curators) of Divisional collections Staff, and oversight of Conservation, Archives, Registrar, Systems, Informatics, and Publications. The Director will be instrumental in developing a strategic vision for collections care and stewardship, with a focus on furthering the teaching and research goals of the Museum and University.

The Exhibit Development Manager (ExDev) is the storyteller for PacSci exhibits. They contribute to Pacific Science Center’s (PacSci) mission to spark curiosity and fuel a passion for discovery, experimentation, and critical thinking by delighting guests with exceptionally engaging exhibit content. This position is responsible for the development and management of all exhibit projects. The ExDev will develop exhibit content across Pacific Science Center’s public-facing buildings, with the initial focus on refreshing existing floor experiences. The ExDev is a highly creative and organized visitor experience steward, guided by curiosity, comfortable with ambiguity and experimentation, and driven by an inclusive and collaborative mind-set. They view each project through multiple lenses, with special attention to the perspectives, stories, and languages of marginalized communities. The ExDev understands that community engagement is fundamental to creating engaging exhibits and seeks out opportunities for collaboration and input, both externally and internally.

Qualifications:
• 3+ years of exhibit development experience, preferably supporting informal learning experiences for museums, zoos, science centers, or similar environments that need to accommodate users of all ages, abilities, and experiences.
• 2+ years of experience managing large teams and complex projects with demonstrated ability to deliver work on time and on budget.
• Sound scholarship, broad science knowledge, and an interest in community impact around science literacy.
• Demonstrated understanding of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility principles.
• Experience implementing continuous improvement strategies.
